223 series Spherical Rroller Bearings
When 222 Is Not Enough
The 223 series spherical roller bearings step up from the 222 with a larger outside diameter and longer barrel rollers, producing roughly 40-60 percent higher dynamic load rating for the same bore. This is the SRB series for the heaviest continuous radial loads - vibrating screens, hammer mill rotors, heavy gearbox pinions - where the 222 would be replaced before its design life.
Key Data
• Bore range: 17 mm (22302) to 200 mm (22340)
• Cr range: approximately 30 kN (22302) to 680 kN (22340 E)
• Cage: predominantly machined brass or steel, due to heavy roller mass
• Clearance: C3 standard; C4 for vibrating or high-temperature duty
Why Heavy Applications Specify 223
Vibrating screens impose cyclic shock loads that accelerate fatigue. The 223 series carries those loads with a larger rolling element set and a stouter cage, and C4 clearance accommodates the heat and motion. Similarly, hammer mill rotors and crusher shafts see reversing shock loads that a 222 would not survive long.
Typical Applications
Vibrating screens for aggregate and coal, hammer mill and impact crusher rotors, heavy industrial gearbox pinion shafts, large fan rotors, cement mill trunnion shafts, dredge pump impeller shafts, and heavy mining conveyor pulleys.
