Bearing Mounting

Preparation

Before beginning the installation process, it is necessary to carefully inspect the mounting surfaces on the main equipment. These surfaces must be smooth and free from any burrs or debris that could affect the installation. The support structure should undergo stress relief after all welding procedures are completed, followed by precise machining to ensure a perfect fit. Proper preparation helps to prevent potential issues such as bearing deformation, which can occur if surfaces are uneven when bolts are tightened.

When unpacking the slewing bearing, exercise caution to avoid damaging the seals, and take measures to prevent any dust or debris from entering the bearing.

Soft Zone Positioning

During installation, it's important to properly position the soft zone of the slewing bearing, which is marked with an "S." This area should be placed in a section of the bearing that doesn't bear heavy or frequent loads. Proper positioning helps maintain the integrity and performance of the bearing. Additionally, the filler plug, which is located at the soft zone, should not be removed or tampered with, as it plays a crucial role in the bearing's functionality.

Gear Teeth Inspection

Before fully tightening the installation bolts, it's important to conduct a gear mesh inspection on the section of the slewing bearing marked with green paint. This step ensures that the gear mesh clearance meets the required precision standards, which is crucial for the proper functioning of the gear teeth.

Bolt Installation

When securing the bolts during installation, it's important to use tempered flat washers and avoid spring washers, as they don't provide the necessary stability. Once the slewing bearing is radially positioned, tighten the bolts in a crisscross pattern, alternating at 180° intervals. This technique ensures that the force is evenly distributed and that the bearing rotates smoothly without any hitches. While tightening, it's crucial to apply enough pre-tension to the bolts, making sure that the force is consistent across all bolts around the bearing's circumference.
