Stainless steel deep groove ball bearings are corrosion resistant when exposed to moisture and several other media. They are available capped (with seals or shields) or open. Open bearings that are also available capped may have recesses in the ring side faces.

Stainless Steel Bearing Ball

AISI type 440C stainless steel balls offer the maximum in material strength and good corrosion resistance. They resist food environments, alcohol, water, many petroleum products, organic materials and steam. Type 440C balls are used in many applications including bearings, valves, locking mechanisms, fasteners and quick-disconnect couplings and are highly resistant to rolling-contact fatigue.

316 Stainless Radial Ball Bearings
ZZ Bearings manufactures radial ball bearings utilizing type 316 stainless which provides superior corrosion resistance when compared to conventional 440 stainless bearings. Type 316 stainless is widely used in the food, medical, marine industries. Bearings produced from this type of steel can run in liquids or can run dry at slow speeds.

BEARING CONSTRUCTION
Machined semi-precision rings, polymer cages, and grade 100 type 316 stainless balls are used in the manufacture of ZZ Bearing Company Stainless Ball Bearings. This type of bearing is intended primarily to reduce friction and permit free movement of turning parts. They are best suited for moderate loads and slow speeds.

MATERIALS
RINGS: AISI 316 stainless, non-magnetic, unground semi-precision.
BALLS: Standard balls are 316 stainless. When necessary, other types of balls are available on a special order basis.
BALL RETAINER (CAGE): Standard ball retainers are Polypropylene or Acetal. When higher heat capability is required, bearings can be manufactured with either a high temperature polymer cage or without a cage.
SHIELDS/SEALS: Open design is standard. In some sizes we can provide either polymer shields or PTFE seals on a custom made to order basis. A minimum order will apply for a custom production run.
LUBRICATION: ZZ Bearing Company supplies the bearings with a light proprietary oil that reduces friction and noise, and is non contaminating in most applications. When necessary, special order lubricants can be provided.
TEMPERATURE FOR STANDARD MATERIALS:
Acetal Cage: -40°F to 180°F
Polypropylene Cage: -40°F to 140°F

MADE FROM FOOD + MEDICAL GRADE MATERIALS
CAN RUN DRY IN SLOWER SPEEDS: 316 Stainless bearings do not require oil or grease for corrosion protection.
NON MAGNETIC STAINLESS: Austenitic stainless steels, like 316 stainless, are not considered to be magnetic materials.
HYGIENIC: 316 Stainless bearings can be washed down, will not rust, require no lubrication and can be sterilized.
HIGH HEAT CAPABILITY: A ZZ Bearing Company's 316 Stainless bearing, fitted with a high temperature polymer cage or without a cage in a full complement construction, can run at higher temperatures up to 1000°F.

Stainless Steel Radial Ball Bearings
High quality AISI 440C stainless steel bearings resist corrosion and provide exceptional hardness and strength. Features 304 stainless cages and shields; grooved raceways on inner and outer rings sustain moderate axial loads in both directions and radial loads. Available open, sealed (2RS) or shielded (ZZ). ZZ and 2RS are available pre-lubricated with FM222 H1 Food Grade Grease. In addition to our standard items and configurations listed below, BL excels at manufacturing customized bearings to meet specific application requirements.
